Equinix Inc. and its affiliated companies in the Americas, EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions and any future locations are committed to respecting your online privacy and recognise your need for appropriate protection and management of any personally identifiable information (“Personal Data”) that you share with us.

Personal Data

Personal Data is information that enables us to identify you, such as your first and last name, business phone numbers, emails and addresses, job title) for the provision of our services as well as information about our services on our various Web sites, and whose use, processing or transfer is regulated by privacy laws or regulations.

Use of Personal Data

Equinix Inc, acting as Data Controller ((as defined under European data protection and privacy laws or regulations or local equivalent), collects and uses your Personal Data for the following purposes:

  • to provide you with our services;
  • to inform you of our services and provide you with our latest information and news about the Equinix group;
  • to enable you to contact Equinix and for us to respond to you;
  • to provide you with personalised or targeted services; and
  • to analyse the use of the relevant Web site by you in order to develop and enhance our services.

Sharing Personal Data

Equinix shall not share your Personal Data with companies other than entities within the Equinix group and, where applicable, our third party processors (acting on our behalf and under our instructions), and does not share Personal Data to any other third parties, unless required to do so by law or regulatory authorities.

Considering the international dimension of Equinix, your Personal Data may be transferred between our Equinix group entities in our current and future locations, where the data privacy legislation may differ from that in your country.

In circumstances where Personal Data is transferred to countries in which there is not a similar level of protection as in your country, and where relevant, Equinix has taken steps to ensure an adequate level of protection of the transferred data by concluding appropriate inter-company data transfer agreements based on the European Standard Contractual Clauses; and also by adopting Binding Corporate Rules.

Compliance

All entities within the Equinix group comply with the rules of this Statement and with all applicable privacy principles and regulations.

User Rights

When you visit our Web sites, you can always elect not to provide us with certain information. If you choose not to provide the Personal Data we request, you can still visit some of Equinix’s web pages, but you may be unable to access certain services that involve our interaction with you.

Depending on applicable law, you are entitled to several rights in relation to your Personal Data, such as a right of access to Personal Data that Equinix collects about you, and/or a right of correction and suppression of such data, and/or a right to object to the processing of your Personal Data on legitimate grounds.

Equinix shall not process or retain Personal Data for longer than necessary to fulfil the purposes for which they are processed.

Cookies and Other Technologies

Some of our Web pages utilize "cookies" and other tracking technologies. A cookie is a small data file that certain Web sites write to your hard drive when you visit them. A cookie file can contain information such as a user ID that the site uses to track the pages you've visited, but the only Personal Data a cookie can contain is information you supply yourself. A cookie can't read data off your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites. Some parts of Equinix’s Web site use cookies to track user traffic patterns. We do this in order to determine the usefulness of Equinix’s information to our users and to see how effective our navigational structure is in helping users reach that information. Cookies also allow us to distinguish you from other users of the Web site which helps us to provide you with a good experience when you browse our Web site and also allows us to improve our site. We may also analyse information that does not contain Personal Data for trends and statistics.

Equinix’s Web sites use three types of cookies:

  • Session cookies:  these cookies allow us to link the actions of a user during a browser session. They are used for several purposes such as checking approximately how long a user stays on Equinix’s Web site . They may record information such as Internet domain and host names; Internet protocol (IP) addresses; browser software and operating system types. These session cookies expire when the session closes and are not stored longer term.
  • Google analytics cookies: these cookies allow us to count each user’s total number of visits and to record and store the time of visit. We do this in order to determine the usefulness of Equinix’s information to our users and to see how effective our navigational structure is in helping users reach that information.   • Technical cookies: these cookies are necessary in order for our Web site  to function properly, for example, to remember the destination and target URL or to determine the user’s machine timezone which is used by the application for displaying the dates. These cookies are stored for a limited time depending on their purpose.

Opt-Out Cookies

You may set most browsers to notify you if you receive a cookie or you may choose to block cookies with your browser, but please note that if you choose to erase or block your cookies, you will need to re-enter your original user ID and password to gain access to certain parts of the Web site.

With regard to analytics provided by Google, Google has developed the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on which can be found at: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en. It provides Web site  users more choice on how their data is collected by Google Analytics.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, by using this Web site, you consent to the terms of Equinix’s Privacy and Cookie Policy and to our processing of your Personal Data for the purposes described above.
